VULCAN workshop

In this workshop, the system and the application of the Vulcan microscope will be presented by the developers.

The Vulcan is a compact microscope stage with a fast heating and cooling function (0-80 degrees), e.g. to perform controlled heat shock experiments. The system can accommodate different kinds of samples and has been used to study protein solutions, C. elegans embryos, Xenopus spindles and lipid membranes. It has also been used to make temperature phase diagrams of phase-separating proteins (PGL-3 and FUS) using a method called inPhase.
