Research

We cover abroad range of research, encompassing fundamental studies from the underlying molecular mechanisms of ageing, development and disease to translational research through our clinical research groups.

Key areas of our research include understanding:

  • How cells detect and repair damage in their DNA
  • How epigenetic mechanisms control gene expression
  • How cells regulate their RNAs to fine-tune gene expression
  • How cells prevent their proteins from misfolding

By working to understand the basic mechanisms behind how we develop and age, as well as what goes wrong in disease, we can make discoveries that can be translated into new therapies to treat diseases and improve human health.
