Student Assistant (m/f/d) (#AKWH04)

About us

IMB (www.imb.de) is a research institute on the campus of Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany.  
It is generously funded by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. 
The Khmelinskii laboratory focuses on mechanisms of proteome turnover, surveillance and quality control. Working in yeast and human cells, we aim to elucidate how cells identify abnormal proteins and to explore links between protein quality control, cancer and ageing. To support our scientific and organization work, we are recruiting a Student Research Assistant  (m/f/d) for 10 hours a week.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Support with general laboratory organization (e.g., handling of deliveries, aliquoting of reagents)
  • Support with microbiology work (e.g., preparation of buffers, growth media and agar plates)
  • Support with molecular biology work (e.g., cloning, mini/midi-preps)

Requirements

  • Good organizational skills and a high sense of responsibility
  • Motivation, independence, team spirit and flexibility
  • Experience with good scientific practices and careful work in the laboratory
  • Good communication skills in English and German, both oral and written
  • Experience in molecular biology methods is desirable but not required
