Dr Nicolas Busch, Project Leader and Expert, The Boston Consulting Group, Köln

Dr Busch studied medicine at Bonn and Istanbul and received his Dr. med. in clinical pharmacology. After his studies he started at Boston Consulting Group as Visiting Associate and quickly became a Consultant working at the interface between medicine and economy. He has gained expertise in case management, controlling, contract management and project management, and is now consulting with public and private health insurance companies as well as national and international players in the health care system. 

Dr Jürgen Ludwig, Project Manager, AMS - Advanced Medical Services GmbH, Mannheim 

Dr Jürgen Ludwig studied Chemistry at the Technical University of Darmstadt. After his PhD at the Centre of Biological Chemistry at the University of Frankfurt, he spent 5 years as a Postdoc and Research Fellow at the University of Mainz working on Alzheimer’s and Dementia. He was a founding partner of Galantos Genetics GmbH in Mainz where he assumed the function of Lab Head. From there he moved into the field of Preclinical Development as a senior scientist at Galantos Pharma. Currently he is working as a Project Manager for AMS where he started as CRA and later became Regulatory Affairs Manager.

PD Dr Nicole Maas, Head of the non-profit organisation Wissenswerkstatt Saarbücken e.V.

Following her studies of biology at Saarbrücken and Paris Dr Nicole Maas did her PhD and habilitation in molecular cell biology at the DKFZ, Heidelberg. After some time spent in lab consultation she has developed an expertise in didactics, e-learning and current standard requirements and can now look back at a long experience in modern education management and in the establishment of sustainable concepts in further education for life science companies, privately run educational institutions, Chamber of Industry and Commerce and universities. 

Dr Goran Martić, Multi-Project Manager, TRON - Translationale Onkologie an der Universitätsmedizin der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz gemeinnützige GmbHDr

Goran Martić studied Biology at the Ludwig Maximillian University of Munich and did his PhD and Postdocs in Europe and the U.S. His scientific background comprises molecular biology, biochemistry and immunology. He has many years of experience in managing R&D projects, national and international government funded translational cooperation projects with academia, biotech and pharma companies and is currently responsible for budget, timeline and milestone management across multiple projects as Project and Cooperation’s Manager at TRON. 

Dr Michael D. Mühlebach, Head of Section Product Testing of Immunological Medicinal Products for Veterinary Use, Paul-Ehrlich-Institut, Langen

With a diploma in biochemistry from the Goethe University Frankfurt and studies at Oxford University, Dr Mühlebach worked on lentiviral vectors for gene transfer to gain his PhD at the Federal Institute for Vaccines and Biomedicines (PEI) at Langen. He started his postdoctoral research at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (US) and went back to the PEI where he was soon promoted to head of section; starting in the department of medicinal biotechnology he is now in veterinary medicine.

PD Dr sc. Hum. Oliver Nolte, Head Depts. Bacteriology, Parasitology, Mycology, Centre for Laboratory Medicine (ZLM), St. Gallen, Switzerland

Following undergraduate studies in biology at Münster and graduate studies at the Hygiene Institute of Heidelberg University, PD Dr Nolte received his PhD and habilitation at the medical faculty of Heidelberg University. With a qualification as clinical microbiologist “Medizinischer Fachmikrobiologe (BÄMI/DGHMI)” he can now look back at over 5 years’ experience at the university hospital, 2.5 years in industrial R&D and over 6 years’ experience in routine diagnostic laboratories, currently  assuming the role of Head of Departments at ZLM in St. Gallen. 

Achim Oelmann, Clinical Operations Manager, AMS -Advanced Medical Services GmbH, Mannheim

Achim Oelmann graduated in biology and gained first insight into clinical research as research assistant at the University Hospital of the Ruhr-University of Bochum. After a short scientific period at the institute of Biochemistry, Göttingen he started working as Clinical Research Associate (CRA) in various companies. He is now Clinical Operations Manager at AMS Mannheim where he started as Project Manager and later assumed the role of Regional Line Manager.

Dr Julia Rose, Head of Clinical Operations, R&D Pharmaceuticals, Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica GmbH, Mainz

Dr. Rose studied biology at the University of Mainz where she also did her doctorate at the University hospital’s Institute of Toxicology. She entered the clinical trials career as a CRA at the interdisciplinary Center Clinical Trials at Mainz, moving on to Study Manager. After a period as Senior CRA at Ecron Acunova she started as Clinical Trial Monitor at Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica GmbH where she is now Head of Clinical Operations, R&D Pharmaceuticals.

Dr Stefan Uhle, MBM ScienceBridge GmbH, Göttingen

Dr Stefan Uhle studied biochemistry at the Freie Universität Berlin. He did his doctoral work at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and obtained his PhD in 2004. His postdoctoral work at the Medical Research Council, Clinical Sciences Centre, Imperial College London was supported by a Marie Curie Fellowship. In August 2009 he joined the MBM ScienceBridge GmbH as Patent Manager for Life Science and Biotechnology.

Dipl. biol. Kai-Alexander Wiemer, Associate Director of European Biorepository Operations, BioStorage Technologies GmbH, Griesheim

With a degree in biology from the Hohenheim University at Stuttgart and a main focus on molecular and microbiology Kai-Alexander Wiemer began working at MDS Pharma Services Central lab as Project Manager for clinical trials. He then joined BioStorage Technologies overseeing storage and handling of potentially infectious samples and managing site development. Parallel to his work at BST he followed a course in Business Administration for executives and has now assumed the role of Associate Director of European Biorepository Operations.

Dr Maria Zweig, Marketing Manager, Mettler Toledo, Gießen

During her studies in biology at Marburg University, Dr Zweig gained her first work experience and had customer contact at Microlight Ltd., where she continued working as marketing assistant whilst doing her PhD at the MPI for terrestrial Microbiology at Marburg. Also during her time as a doctoral student, she followed a distance learning course in Marketing and Management and had her daughter. She got her PhD in June 2013 and started in September as Marketing Manager at Mettler Toledo.

Dr Jamilur Rahman, Global Regulatory Affairs Manager, Grünenthal GmbH, Aachen

In his position as Global Regulatory Affairs Manager Dr Rahman is in charge of planning and executing post-approval life-cycle activities of assigned medicinal products registered in 150 countries. Having studied pharmacology and biotechnology in India he worked as electrophysiologist at the Anna University in India and the University Medical Center at Mainz before starting his PhD in biology at Göttingen. He started his career in the pharma industry writing clinical and non-clinical expert reports on pharmaceuticals for a CRO.
